ECHO DEEP

You're a bat lost in a cave with no light at all. The only way to see is to call out and watch the echoes paint the rock around you.

Problem is the things that live down here are blind as well, and they hunt by sound. Every call you make shows you the cave and tells them exactly where you are.

Hold the call for longer and you'll see further. They'll hear it further too.

What's down there

• Moths that keep you fed and open the way deeper, so you can't just sit in the dark forever
• Hunters that come to anything they hear. Close ones know exactly where it came from, far ones only get a rough idea and creep over
• When one of them shrieks the rest come running
• Stones you can throw to send them somewhere else
• Sleeping colonies on the ceiling that go off like an alarm if you blunder past
• Wind that drowns out your noise, and water, the one place they won't follow you
• Carvings left by the bats who came down before you, and you'll only find them by echo
• A gift to pick every time you make it down a level

Every cave is generated fresh, every sound is made in code, and the whole thing runs in your browser.

Play it with headphones if you can, you'll hear which side the hunters are on.
